Do I need to register my card with the Houston Health Department?
No. Great news for Houston food workers! Effective September 1, 2025, the City of Houston has updated its food ordinances to align with Texas State Law. You are no longer required to take a specific “City of Houston” class or pay a separate registration fee to the health department.
Simply complete our state-accredited course (TDSHS License #81), print your certificate, and you are compliant immediately.
Is this card valid in Harris County?
Yes. Because ACE Food Handler is licensed by the State of Texas, this certification is valid in:
- City of Houston
- Harris County
- Pasadena, Katy, Sugar Land, and Pearland
- All other Texas cities
How long does the course take?
The course is approximately 90 minutes long. It is 100% video-based and self-paced, so you can stop and start whenever you need to.
