The Five Step Process to a RAMP Certification
RAMP Owner/Manager Training
The owner/manager training focuses on those that will be most responsible for the day-to-day operations of the establishment. There are several training topics that the owner/manager training course will go over. The topics include the creation of policies for staff members and the public, and it will touch on RAMP server/seller training.
RAMP Server/Seller Training
The RAMP server/seller training is for anyone who is taking part in the sale of alcohol and is therefore checking IDs. Although there is a separate owner/manager training, they can also use the server/seller training to their benefit. How much does RAMP Certification cost? At ACE Food Handler RAMP Seller/Server Training is only $10.
New Employee Orientation
One must provide a new employee orientation for all staff members that are involved with the sale of alcohol in the establishment. This orientation must take place within 30 days of the employee being hired. Upon completion, the new employee must fill out the Licensee New Employee Orientation Form and sign it.
Things to keep in mind:
- Any employee involved in the sale of alcohol must fill out this form. This includes owners/managers.
- Licensee New Employee Orientation Forms must be filed and kept for record.
Signage
If an establishment is properly licensed, then signage must be posted clearly for customers stating that identification is required upon the sale of alcohol. The signage must also display that your store reserves the right to refuse alcohol sales to minors and visibly intoxicated customers. As a licensee, you are responsible for posting and maintaining that signage.
Things to keep in mind:
- There need to be at least two signs that address acceptable forms of ID and the right to refuse the sale of alcohol.
- Signage must be ordered through PLCB, or the signage must be equivalent in terms of size and content.
- Signs must be clearly displayed.
Apply for the RAMP Certification
Once you have completed everything up to this point, you are ready to apply for your RAMP Certification. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) gives out the certification to establishments that meet all the requirements.
Just remember that the employee part (RAMP Seller/Server Training) is only $10.
