What is a Standard Drink?

When drink counting it is important to know what a standard drink is. The chart below will outline those for you.

In general terms a 12oz beer, 5 oz glass of wine, and 1.5 fluid ounce shot of 80 proof spirits have about the same about of alcohol.

A healthy person can metabolize about 1 standard drink an hour. We have included the BAC charts for both men and women below. While most of the country states that a .08 BAC is Legally Intoxicated it is important to note that in Utah .05 BAC is considered Legally Intoxicated. When drink counting it is also important to count drinks with more than one shot or growlers as more than one Standard Drink.

ACE Food Handler provides Alcohol Seller/Server Training in the following states. Each Alcohol Seller/Server Course is detailed with information for each specific state. As an example, TABC Certification is specific to Texas, and RAMP Seller/Server Training is specific to Pennsylvania, and BASSET Certification is specific to Illinois. All of ACE Food Handler Alcohol Seller/Server Courses are approved by the Corresponding Alcohol and Beverage Commission for that state.

The California Department of Public Health Food Handler’s Card

The California Department of Public Health Food Handler’s Card The state of California recommends that individuals work in restaurants and non-restaurant facilities to complete food handing training. A California food handler card is valid everywhere in California except in Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties which have pre-existing local food handler card programs. Consult with the local enforcement agencies in each of these counties to obtain information on their local food handler programs and requirements. Once you have finished your course, you may print out your certificate of completion. This certificate will serve as your California Food Handler’s Card that qualifies you to work in the food service industry in California.

California food workers who handle food must have a California Food Handler card on file with their employer within 30 days of hire. To get your card, you must complete the training and pass the exam with a 75 percent or higher. You can complete the training online with ACE Food Handler.
