Let’s talk about social distancing for restaurants handling payments.
Hello everyone, as we get accustomed to this new normal. A few best practices for Drive-Thru’s and Curbside Pickup have emerged from across the country.
For curbside pickup or if your company still allows pickups inside your restaurant you want your customers to pay with some type of app and/or online.
We should be encouraging the customer to pay with their phone or using the tap feature with their chip enabled card. This will reduce a few touch points and keep you from having to touch their card and then handing it back. We still recommend that you put the order on the counter and allow the customer to pick up their order versus trying to hand the customer their order.
In the drive-thru’s we recommend using a tray to hand out the food to reduce the chance of touching the customer and to keep you a little further away. If the customer wants to pay with cash let them put the money on the tray then bring it into the store and give the customer their changed back on the tray.
The same goes for cash transactions inside the restaurant just have them put the cash down on the counter. These small things may seem like common sense but it never hurts to have a small reminder.
Remember to wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds and don’t touch your face with unclean hands.
All these small things will help keep you, your family and your work family safer and healthier.
