What is a Standard Drink?

When drink counting it is important to know what a standard drink is. The chart below will outline those for you.

ACE Food Handling - Standard Drink Chart

                                                                                                               Standard Drink Chart

In general terms a 12oz beer, 5 oz glass of wine, and 1.5 fluid ounce shot of 80 proof spirits have about the same about of alcohol.

A healthy person can metabolize about 1 standard drink an hour.  We have included the BAC charts for both men and women below. While most of the country states that a .08 BAC is Legally Intoxicated it is important to note that in Utah .05 BAC is considered Legally Intoxicated. The Utah BAC Charts and other Alcohol Seller Server aides are available on the ACE Food Handler Resources Page
